‘The Case for Christ’ Moves up to #9 at Box Office By Veronica Neffinger

The film The Case for Christ has risen to the number nine spot at the box office over the weekend. The film was previously at number 10.

According to, the film grossed $2,720,000 last weekend, bringing it to a total of close to $8,500,000.

But not only is the film making money, it is the first film from Pure Flix studios to receive more positive than negative ratings from the critics.

Although the studio’s previous films, such as God’s Not Dead and its sequel, were popular with Christians audiences, they didn’t receive favorable reviews from critics.

The Case for Christ, however, has received a 70 percent “fresh” rating on the movie review website Rotten Tomatoes. To be “fresh,” rather than “rotten,” a movie has to receive at least 60 percent positive reviews.

According to Relevant Magazine, critic Joe Leydon at Variety called the movie “intriguing” while Jackie Cooper of the Huffington Post said it was “well made and well acted.”
